Do stuff with girlfriend that does not impact on my fitness goals

I set some post mid year resolutions because I wanted to get my self-improvement goals back on track after a slump. I detail how I will go about achieving my goal using SMART objectives, with a contingency plan for if I am not able to do this

Why have I set this?

I have recently made some poor lifestyle choices since getting a girlfriend.  I have spent more time eating out, drinking and having late nights that has had an impact on my fitness.  I don’t want to go to the gym early in the morning and when I do I feel sluggish and tired.  I know my recent choices are the reason behind this.

Specific

  • Research activities that does not involve going to pubs and restaurants.
  • Get girlfriend to take part in these alternatives.

Measurable

  • Will know this is done when I have alternative activities to do

Achievable

  • There are plenty of alternatives, it is just about a change of behaviour of what we do collectively

Realistic

  • I am a healthy person so will want to change.  My girlfriend is relatively healthy – I feel that she would be willing to do different things though.

Time based

  • Currently we are still doing a lot of things that are not helpful to my fitness goals.  I want to be implementing changes by the beginning of November.

Contingency

  • If this fails I will have to resist temptation – going for healthier meals on the menu, drinking water etc.
  • Do more fitness activity.

  1. I have the same problem with my fiancé, he loves junk, I CBA to cook there fore we end up eating junk. Take her out running with you, she will be addicted. Get her to do some fun obstacle races with you. The only reason I started training was so I could enter Tough Mudder because of my partner and now I’m obsessed with running, or like I mentioned before try going rock climbing together it’s so much fun

    1. Would love to train together for an obstacle race – she has already said she would never do one. But when she watched me at the Spartan race a few weeks ago she said that if she was to do that race it would take her about three hours, so perhaps she is softening up to it! Will definitely try some of your ideas though, see what works.

      1. Yea, I’m sure she will I never thought I would ever do anything like TM! May be break her in gently with a few easy ones first lol
