Happy days folks!

It’s seven years since I had the idea of starting a blog as an outlet to channel my writing aspirations.

Not long after this idea, I setup the blog which was once known as Manifesto of Perfection on WordPress, a name I don’t regret in anyway…

Well… whoopee for me!  You may think, but as a lot of blogs don’t make it past the year, I figure every anniversary after that is a good result.

When you’ve been writing content for so long it can be quite demanding to keep coming up with new content (I don’t know how people like Ed Latimore and James Clear can write stuff everyday).

My main tip for endurance is to keep evolving and reinventing yourself as you go through your blogging journey.

Milestone 2…

There’s also another milestone as I’ve now achieved over 1000+ followers, though as any experienced blogger knows this isn’t as significant as you like to think, as 1000 followers never equals 1000 page views for new posts!

For anyone lurking in the background whose followed me in the hopes I check out their blog, a little tip – if you want someone to check out your work, the key word is ENGAGEMENT.

Likes and Follows soon disappear into the ether, if you want to get noticed I recommend reading and commenting on posts, as it’s an good indicator who is sincerely interested in your content.

When you get that sincerity you understand who is worth investing time in.

Milestone 3 (Yes, another one…)

During those seven years a lot of words have been written, culminating in over 400 posts.

From looking back over my posts, it has been great to see the improvement in my writing skills.

I know it’s a common tactic recommended in the blogging circle to republish old posts, but my trouble when going through older content is that I know I can write it better, so when I do decide to republish something, the article has undergone a strict update from myself, which more or less turns it into a new post!

Thank you…

I just wanted to say thank you to the people (i.e. you) for taking the time to read my work and sharing any of your thoughts on my posts.

Comments really are a great motivator when writing a blog – it’s an indicator that someone has actually read your article, and is a good sign what particular part resonates with a person.

Commenting is a great way to get feedback, improve your work and understand what type of content goes down well with my readers.  So keep doing it!

Thank you very much for choosing to spend your time with me.

Finally…

I just wanted to go back on the significance of this blog being seven years old.

Just to put this length of time into context, I have been writing content on here:

  • Longer than I’ve owned a home.
  • It pre-dates the birth of both my children (if you add their time on this Earth, I’ve still been writing for longer).
  • I’ve held half a dozen jobs, working for three different organisations.
  • Perfect Manifesto, has been a part of my life longer than the relationship with my wife.

Here’s to the next seven years.  I’d love for you to stick around.

Thanks for reading, wishing you the best in your success.

James @Perfect Manifesto.

  2. Many congratulations on 7 years of blogging, James. I’m just behind you on the 7th anniversary (12th Feb).
And you’re so right about the keyword being ENGAGEMENT. I get asked frequently ‘how do I get more engagement on my blog?’ and respond with the question “Do you read and leave comments on other blogs?” When the answer I get back is “No, I’ve no time for that,” I start running for the hills.

    1. Ha, ha, I call that ‘Kanye West syndrome’ because years ago there was a big deal made that he had all these Twitter followers but didn’t follow anyone back. Most of us don’t have the profile of a big celebrity so have to put in the work/interest, if we want to build an audience.

Thanks for commenting I’m looking forward to the blogging years ahead.

      1. Now you got me asking myself if anyone who asked me that question was somebody famous. But I get what you mean, But don’t some of those people also employ people to tweet and reply for them? I wonder?
