It’s Christmas Eve in the United Kingdom, so I wanted to take a moment to thank all readers of Perfect Manifesto, old and new, regulars or just folks who’ve been interested enough to check out one post –

Thank you!

Merry Christmas!

And have a happy and prosperous 2024!

And a bonus…

As a bonus I’m going to share (and potentially embarrass myself) with a poem I wrote about Christmas.

Poem: Christmas with the grandparents… whenever

Just for 24 hours the grandparents are back.

Is it a miracle? Who knows? But here we all are feasting on Christmas snap.

Good times, merriment, oh… How the world has changed!

A mercy you never lived it, or you’d be deranged!

And when you last saw me, I wasn’t doing too good.

A bit of a loser? Or misunderstood?

Yes, I’m doing better now, yes, I’m okay.

You could say I was a success at the end of the day.

Just as I prepared to tell them of the man I’d become.

The clock went and struck 12.01.

Final note – origins of a poem:

This was something I put together for the 99-word story challenge over at the Carrot Ranch Literary Community – if I’m feeling a bit of writers block I’ll have a go at following one of the prompts.

I have no memory of what the prompt was that week, and although I finalised it into the 99-words I never got round to submitting it.

And as regular readers will know, I don’t write (and publish) poems, so it’s always an excuse to try something different and get out of my writing comfort zone,.

Inspiration from the poem came from:

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (Ghosts of the past coming back for Christmas).

The Dream by Winston Churchill (About his dead father visiting him, and disappearing before Winston got the chance to tell him about his everything he achieved in his own life).

My own personal regret that my life wasn’t together the way I wanted it to be before my grandparents all passed away.

Wishing you the best in your success

    1. Thank you, I like throwing myself different writing challenges to take me away from what I usually write, though most don’t get published.

      Happy Holidays Tamara!
