It took nearly seven months before I decided to publish on the Manifesto of Perfection again, the place I recorded my thoughts and opinions of all things self-improvement.
Last week I marked my return, where for the first time ever I featured work that wasn’t my own – a beautiful poem by Charles Bukowski ‘So you want to be a writer?’
I can’t promise it will change your life or anything, but it reminded me why I enjoy writing – expressing oneself, relieving stress, someone appreciates your work, the natural inspiration process, artistic integrity. I knew it was time to return.

So you want to be a writer
by Charles Bukowski
if it doesn’t come bursting out of you
in spite of everything,
don’t do it.
unless it comes unasked out of your
heart and your mind and your mouth
and your gut,
don’t do it.
if you have to sit for hours
staring at your computer screen
or hunched over your
searching for words,
don’t do it. Continue reading “So you want to be a writer?”
Today I am pleased to announce that I have done my first post my first collaboration post with Angie over at Confessions of an Awakened Youth – a blog focused on blog focuses on self-improvement, mental and physical wellness, and spirituality.
For this collaboration, we challenged ourselves to write a post on a set topic – our focus was on “Getting over the fear of failure.”
Here is my effort below. Please let me know any thoughts and comments below and don’t forgot to check out Angie’s work afterwards (link at the bottom)

I read a rather interesting post that took a bit of a self-deprecating tone about blogging.
Along with the feeling of insignificance that no one was reading their work, one of the authors concerns was that by blogging they were not contributing anything new.
From what I remember of the post they even said something like “I could just be another self-improvement blog passing on the same information.”
The reason it took me a year to start a blog was partly because I wanted to do something new and different. Continue reading “Originality”
Hello dear reader,
Upon the positive feedback on my post writing good comments on a blog, I thought I would extend my advice to another area that irritates me in the world of blogging and blog writing.
The irritant is when a site or an author takes the piss out of their loyal readers.
Firstly I will give a definition of my colloquialism:
take the piss (out of someone or something)
phrase of piss
- [British] vulgar slang
Mock someone or something
Right now that’s cleared up onto the issue… Continue reading “Perfect Blogging: Don’t take the piss”
Hello good reader. As writers we are eager to get people to see our work – in the world of blogging and the Internet there is so much content out there that it is difficult to be seen.
In many situations we may get frustrated and quit because we are not getting that instant validation that we need. In other situations we may take action, taking time away from the writing to plug and promote our work as much as possible. I understand I have been there.
I thought I would give my own personal opinion on what is the correct way of asking someone to view your blog.
Continue reading “Blogging Etiquette: How do you ask someone to view your blog?”
I thought I would take 5 to reflect on the process of blog writing. Since I have started in the WordPress community, I have seen a number of blogs that begun come and go.
And to be honest I don’t always know why they stopped – because some were seriously good!
Maybe they didn’t enjoy writing that much, they got writers block, or the disappointment of only having a small audience that didn’t provide instant validation they wanted made them quit. Or perhaps life just got in the way. Continue reading “Don’t quit (blogger edition)”
As I write this to mark my 200th post it seems fitting that as I sat in my new home the other day, the ‘missus’ quiet casually brings my blog into conversation.
For those who are not aware – this blog is not something that the people in my real life are aware of. Its a bit like I am Clark Kent and this blog is Superman.

I was browsing through the Daily Post and noticed they had a task dedicated to creating a Manifesto for your blog.
Well I had to comment, as setting up a manifesto is right up my street!
All blogs can be manifestos in their own way as I feel it is a clear way of setting definition and direction to where your blog is going. It is also a way of being reflective on your own experiences.
I look through my own manifesto and realise how much I have developed since starting up the Manifesto of Perfection.

Since I started blogging I have made more effort to read the blogs of others.
However within the last couple of weeks I started feeling apprehensive about the whole process. Because this blog is about my obsession with perfection much of my time is spent looking at the fitness blogs. Continue reading “Does health and fitness information overload stop progress?”
