Why I am nowhere nearer to organising an event.

Last year I set the goal to ‘Organise an Event’

When I reviewed my goals in January, I had not even decided what I actually want to organise.

I realise why I am continuing to fail and make very little progress.

This comes down to two reasons:

1) The goal is too vague.

2) My own aversion to risk means I struggle to pull the trigger on organising an event.

I came out of the closet

Yeah you heard it.  I came out of the closet….

comingout

No let me rephrase that as I don’t want you thinking I came out as a homosexual and now live in a civil partnership with a man called Nigel.

I showed someone my writing. Continue reading “I came out of the closet”

January 2015: Goals Update

A week ago I reviewed my initial goals that I set in September.  As part of this process I gave a bit of time to think how I would develop, add and drop goals – as appropriate.  This has now been updated and I will be working on these tasks for the next three months, where I will review my progress.

The Goals

It contains some new ideas, old ideas that I have been able to articulate more clearly what I am supposed to be doing and old ideas – which I did not get round to doing for various reasons.  I have grouped them based on the categories I use with this blog: Continue reading “January 2015: Goals Update”

New Year Goals 2015

Towards the end of September I set myself some targets.

I called it the post mid year resolutions to reinspire a lack of focus.  I am please to say it worked – I have developed, and completed some of these objectives.

Now it is a New Year, I did not want to come up some random new objectives, but continue working on what I had set.  I found 2014, one of the most fulfilling years of my life for improvement and want this to continue.  So I reviewed what I set, with the plan to realistically develop my goals: Continue reading “New Year Goals 2015”

Run an event

I set some post mid year resolutions because I wanted to get my self-improvement goals back on track after a slump. I detail how I will go about achieving my goal using SMART objectives, with a contingency plan for if I am not able to do this

Why have I set this?

In 2009 I ran an event for charity.  This was the most challenging thing I have ever done, it took me out of my comfort zone and I worried so much that no one would turn up, I said I would never do anything like this again.  Yet when the event happened, it turned out great – we didn’t raise much, but it was a learning experience and I wanted to do again.  So here I am in 2014 and I still have not followed up on this. Make own Christmas cards

I set some post mid year resolutions because I wanted to get my self-improvement goals back on track after a slump. I detail how I will go about achieving my goal using SMART objectives, with a contingency plan for if I am not able to do this

Why have I set this?

Can I say the C word yet?  I decided to make some Christmas cards for a MacMillan Coffee morning event to raise more money for the charity but I never got time.  I realise I need to make  time and whether I sell for charity depends if anyone wants to buy them or if they are any good. Go out and take more photographs

I set some post mid year resolutions because I wanted to get my self-improvement goals back on track after a slump.  I detail how I will go about achieving my goal using SMART objectives, with a contingency plan for if I am not able to do this

Why have I set this?

I like to take photographs.  I like the fact that 100 people can take a picture of the same thing, yet each shot can show something different.  But I have not made time to take pictures. Continue reading “Go out and take more photographs”
