First achievement of the day

What has been the first thing that you achieved today?

Not sure?

This morning I started the day by getting up and cycling down to the gym. Upon checking my stop-watch I realised I had shaved some time off my cycle.  I thought

“Great my first achievement of the day!”

10 Reasons to run/cycle outdoors rather than at the gym

I have recently got into doing more outdoor cardio.

I have found myself a number of times sitting/standing in a fixed position looking at:

  1. Mirror image of myself
  2. Uninspiring motivational poster/advert
  3. Boring view of the gym car park

This was all something that made gym cardio really tedious, hardwork.  This resulted in a significant reduction in doing cardio.  Here are 10 things I thought of (while cycling outside incidentally). Continue reading “10 Reasons to run/cycle outdoors rather than at the gym”

I hate (gym) cardio

I really can’t pin down the point when I decided that I hated gym cardio.

It could have been when I got my foot injury and had to lay off the running – instead sacrificing the outdoors for staring at the wall on a cross trainer for 30 minutes.

Or if as my life became busier I had less time for gym that I started to focus on the stuff I really got the most value from (e.g weights).

My favourite shot of myself taken during a race

Round July I was a bit broken down – my legs ached, I had twisted my ankle on the left foot and on the right foot I had a dull reoccurring pain that would not go away on the flat of my foot.

Fix it! – Bike Maintenance Course review

As part of my drive to fix my bike and cycle it regularly, I decided that I would improve my skills so I felt confident to make basic repairs on my bike.

I typed in Bike Maintenance course into Google and came up with the Fix it! class run by the people at Evans Cycles.  So I paid £15, with high hopes of getting shown the errors of my ways.

The Tour De France… in Yorkshire

The Tour De France… in Yorkshire:     So the Tour de France came to Yorkshire…  This was a pretty historic occasions as I don’t think there has ever been an event of this magnitude in Yorkshire ever.  This was not an experience I wanted to miss, so I went to Leeds to see the start.
